Until now, research into hyperpigmentation (dark spots) has focused primarily on melanocytes and keratinocytes. This study goes further by demonstrating that our nervous system plays a direct role in the localized overproduction of melanin. The research has highlighted the role of a neuronal signal, RGMB, in the mechanisms underlying skin pigmentation and aging.<\/p>\n<p>This research has notably led to the development of ILUMYS\u00ae, a natural active ingredient designed to effectively target different types of pigmentation spots and promote a brighter, more even complexion.<\/p>\n<p>It also opens up an entirely new avenue for anti-aging dermo-cosmetics. By understanding the mechanisms of RGMB signaling at the tissue level, Greentech can now design active ingredients capable of acting upstream, by \u201ccalming\u201d the neuronal message before it even stimulates the epidermal pigmentary unit.
